Ferdynand Ruszczyc

Painter, graphic artist, draughtsman, pedagogue.

Ruszczyc painted mainly landscapes. He belonged to the artists group "Young Poles" and painted in a symbolistic style. He illustrated books and designed posters. From 1892 until 1897 he studied painting on the Imperial Academy for Fine Arts. For study he travelled to France, Germany, the Crimea, Italy and Sweden. Many succesfull expositions from his work were organized.
From 1904 on he was a professor at the Academy for Fine Arts in Cracow. He got many decorations, among others in Spain, France and Portugal.
